Our Approach

Brighter Life is a collaboration between Jessica Dziwulska and Amy Benjamin. Together, we provide ACC Sensitive Claims funded group work, individual therapy, and retreats that integrate:
-
Trauma Centre Trauma‑Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY)
-
Somatic and movement therapies
-
Expressive arts and mindfulness‑based approaches
-
Ecotherapy and therapeutic nature-based practices.
-
Nervous system regulation and education.
Most of our work is funded through ACC Sensitive Claims service and is designed to sit alongside individual therapy. Our spaces are trauma‑sensitive, relational, and choice‑based, inviting clients to move at their own pace and without pressure to share difficult stories or trauma.

Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY)
Trauma Center Trauma‑Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) is a clinically informed, evidence‑based practice that uses simple forms, breath, and choice‑making to support reconnection with the body. It centres agency, safety, and non‑coercion for people living with the impacts of trauma.
Somatic & Movement Therapies
Somatic and movement therapies use body-based practices to support awareness, regulation, and healing. They can help people notice sensation, reduce stress and tension, and work with trauma, pain, and emotion through movement rather than words alone.
Expressive Arts & Mindfulness
Expressive arts and mindfulness invite people to explore their inner world through creativity and present‑moment awareness. Using modalities like drawing, writing, collage, movement, and simple contemplative practices, they support expression, regulation, insight, and a gentler connection with self and others.
Ecotherapy & Nature-Based Practices
Ecotherapy and nature-based practices use relationship with the natural world to support grounding, regulation, and connection. We may incorporate outdoor walks, simple mindfulness in nature, and elements like stones, leaves, imagery, and seasonal cycles to inform and enrich our work.
Nervous System Regulation & Education
Nervous system regulation and education supports people to understand how stress and trauma affect their bodies and minds. Through simple practices and accessible teaching, we explore ways to recognize activation, cultivate safety, and gently build capacity for calm, connection, and resilience.
Client centred triage
Client-centred, trauma-informed triage offers a safe, collaborative space to establish emotional support, explore needs and preferences, and plan next steps throughout ACC Group Work, so clients feel oriented, resourced, and actively involved in their own care.
Client testimonials
“I love that the classes are so gentle and discreet. I have found having the freedom to choose which moves I engage in and being offered the freedom to experiment with different positions really empowering. I have also treasured the opportunity to take time out to engage in the practice and to focus on connecting with my body. Hugely therapeutic.” (online TSY participant)
“I loved the retreat. I was surprised at how much art therapy and yoga assisted in helping me feel centered, and I can now see how much I try to control the outcome of a process, which I recognise is an illusion of safety. I really appreciate this insight. Loved how it was facilitated. Highly recommend.” (day retreat participant)
“I found the retreat really amazing in many ways, but I was most nervous about the interaction with others aspect, and the fact that that wasn’t forced or expected of us was amazing. We could sit in our own experience, which is important for me as an empath who holds others' experiences and can be attuned to the negative impact that has on me. You were both awesome facilitators who made the experience safe and enjoyable - I appreciated the experience more than I can say.” (day retreat participant)
