About the event

You are warmly invited to join Jessica and Zsuzsa for a 4-week creative movement series. Each 2-hour session offers a supportive space to explore, express, and connect. We’ll use movement, art-making, journaling, reflection, and discussion to provide insight and facilitate personal growth in ways that are unique and meaningful to you. Together we’ll move, groove, and explore, so bring an open heart and mind, and plenty of curiosity!

PLEASE NOTE: This block of workshops is for women only.

COST: Free!!

Workshop Themes:

Each week we focus on a different stage of life and the archetypes associated with that stage. Archetypes exist in all of us. They are universal symbols or patterns that represent fundamental human experiences and emotions. Exploring archetypes can be beneficial as it helps you connect with universal aspects of yourself that can arise at any time of life. No matter which stage of life you’re in, all stages and archetypes can offer insight and inform potential and possibility. Whether you’re looking to heal, grow, or simply explore, this series offers a rich tapestry of experiences to deepen your understanding of yourself and your journey through life.

  • Week 1: Beginnings – The Dance of Childhood Explore the archetype of the child, embracing the innate wonder, playfulness, and boundless creativity within. Discover the joy and curiosity that has the potential to mark our earliest experiences.
  • Week 2: Growth – The Dance of Adolescence Tap into your willpower, individuality, and determination, exploring the dynamic energy of self-empowerment and authentic self-expression. Connect with the transformative journey of becoming.
  • Week 3: Flourishing – The Dance of Adulthood Engage with the archetype of the creatrix/nurturer. Delve into themes of sustainable endurance, balance, nurturing, empathy, and self-love. Celebrate the flourishing of your unique contributions and relationships.
  • Week 4: Wisdom – The Dance of Maturity and Aging Reflect on the wisdom gained over the years (even if you’ve many years to go!) and embrace the richness of life. Connect with your inner sage, appreciating the depth of your experiences and the insights they bring.

Benefits of the Series:

  • Explore your relationship to different archetypes associated with stages of life
  • Experience personal growth through movement and creative practice.
  • Connect with fellow participants on a similar path.
  • Develop tools for self-awareness, emotional regulation, and holistic wellbeing.

No prior dance, movement, or creative experience is required. This series is part of the University of Auckland Master of Dance Movement Therapy clinic and is supervised by senior lecturers. The series is open to women of all ages and may be especially beneficial for those seeking a deeper connection with themselves through the transformative power of movement and creativity.
