Navigating Change: Letting Go, Growing, and Embracing The New

Updated: Mar 25

Change is never easy. Even when we anticipate it—or actively choose it—it can still shake us to our core. Lately, I’ve been riding the waves of some major, unexpected life transitions, each one requiring me to let go, process grief, and step into the unknown with trust.

Saying Goodbye to Yoga Within

One of the hardest changes has been letting go of Yoga Within, the studio I built from scratch and nurtured for eight years. What was once an old dentist’s office became a sacred space filled with light, laughter, deep breaths, and a beautiful yoga community. But as my responsibilities to family, my Master’s studies in Dance Movement Therapy, and my own health grew heavier, I made the difficult decision to step away.

I had hoped that Yoga Within would continue to flourish in new hands, but the post-COVID landscape had other plans. Despite every effort, the studio could not survive. The loss is profound, leaving behind a space in my heart that once held so much joy.

Yet, I know this: Navigating change, though painful, is necessary for growth. Just as trees shed their leaves in autumn to make space for spring’s renewal, we must sometimes release what we love to make room for what’s next.

Embracing the Transition of Perimenopause

Another deep transformation I’m moving through is perimenopause—the gradual transition into menopause. This shift has forced me to get crystal clear on my limits, my needs, and what I am no longer willing to compromise on.

There is power in this phase of life. It’s not just a hormonal transition—it’s a letting go of old ways of being.

People-pleasing? Releasing it.

Self-doubt? Shedding it.

Worrying about things that don’t truly matter? Letting it go.

This journey has felt like a chrysalis cracking open—a painful but necessary metamorphosis. Because real transformation requires us to break apart before we can emerge as something new.

How to Move Through Change with Grace

As humans, we crave certainty. We want to know that everything will be okay, that we are loved, that we will find happiness. But life offers no guarantees. The only way through change is to fully feel it—the sadness, the anger, the loss, and even the relief. When we allow ourselves to experience these emotions without resistance, they shift, just like the seasons.

And through it all, we keep moving forward. We learn, we grow, and we step more fully into who we are meant to be.

I don’t have all the answers, but I do know this: Change, no matter how hard, is an invitation to step into a new version of ourselves.

And that, in the end, is a beautiful thing.

If You’re Navigating Change…

Know that you are not alone. Take your time. Honour what’s ending. Trust that something new is on its way. Just like the seasons always turn, spring will come again.

With love and trust in the journey,

Jessica
